I've got a 00 700 v-max, there isn't too many real good clutch set ups on the clutch page so I am lookin for somethin that work well but good fuel milage is importand as well. I have a tall cover clutch have tried a few different springs and weights but just can't seem to get the magic back. I have tried some of the sxr set ups but after lookin close to the teck page there are suttle differences between the two sleds. I am pretty familiar with workin on this thing but gettin lost in this clutch and am lookin for somethin that will work well. Right now at 100km's an hour it is revin like 7100 and most of my buddy's yammy's are like 6700 so my fuel milage sucks anything has got to help! thanks.

Have you tried the secondary? With the belt off, see how many pounds of tension it takes to move the spring. Take the secondary off, and make sure the bushing, and nylon ramps are in good shape, and that the clutch is able to operate freely. That may be all you need. You can also reduce the tension on the spring by changing the hole that the tang on the spring sits in, so the secondary shifts out sooner, and lowers your rpm. Use a fishing scale so you know where you're at.

Think we got it finally. Secondary was good. turns out i was very used to riding long stretch fast trails therefore secondary had lots of time to shift and bring rpm down. Where i ride now still real good trails but not as long of stretch to allow things to work. So we put some tip weight in and changed to a slightly softer spring and presto rpm down 250 rpms and fuel milage back to good for these conditions.
