A friend of mine has a 2001 SRX with the symptoms as follows:
-when on low beam, the light is bright
-when turning up the heated grips....light goes dim
-when switching to hi beam the engine cuts out momentarily, tach cuts out, red light flashes a couple of times. Engine and tach come back on.
-engine growls rather than running smooth
-fouls plugs
-bad mid range bog
-pull on brake lever and tach sometimes cuts out.
These are the checks that were done:
-wire harness completely removed and inspected for shorts etc. (it's all good)
-relays have been changed (power relay, hi beam relay)
-EVERY wire has been checked with a meter (it's all good)
-the only thing is that there is no continuity between the power relay and the other relay (not sure if that is normal or not)
-valves cleaned, checked etc.
-carbs cleaned, new gas, etc etc.
-everything has been looked into
I suggested changing the CDI box because of the plug problems and bog.
Anyone have any suggestions?????????????????????????????????

Check all your ground wires. Remove, clean, and reseat. I doubt the CDI because historically those things either work, or they don't. The key here is when you say you make a "change" to the electrical draw by changing from hi to low beams or by putting the brake light on. This sounds much like a "wiring" problem rather than a "component" problem.
