Hello everyone, looking for a little help. I recently purchased my first sled, 98 srx 600, it had a bad track so I put an 1-1/4" Ripsaw on in and took it out for the first time the other night. I know that I filled the tank with fuel this spring before I put it away for the summer. So taking it out the other night I put on around 40 miles and went through pretty much the entire tank. Do these sled really get this bad of fuel economy? Or is there something I need to look for that might explain why I'm going through so much fuel? Thanks for any help, FireAsh.

If your tank holds around 11 gallons like my SRX 700, then after 40 miles, you are getting like 4 miles to the gallon. Did you look in the tank before you took off to verify that it was still full? I can't remember exactly what I get, but I know for sure it is well over 12mpg.
Dad used it for the lawnmower,,,,, didn't tell you,,,,, now I remember......hehe

The bigger the track, the slower you go n burn more gas. But not 40 miles on a full tank!
If you had not changed the gas out from when you filled it in the spring that is why it was getting horrid mileage. That gas that sat is now stale and burns really bad to get anypower at all. Put some 91 in her and check mileage then. You should get over 10mpg and if you easy on the throttle you could even get 15mpg.

How much oil did you burn in that 40 miles? Do you know where your compression is?
