Yes this does sound correct, not sure on the exact torque spec but it is a tighten loosen tighten like you described.

Hi! The service manual for my -98 SRX 700 says nothing about losen and re-torque the bolt, but a 2000-manual does. What is the procedure for the 98?

They are all the same. Is your manual aftermarket? They have been know to leave stuff out!

Thanks for the answer. The manual is yamaha original, I downloaded it from this forum some years ago. I guess yamaha revised it after the first year.
