My SRX got new brake pads this summer, so I guess the mechanic had to take out the chain. The thing is, the sled "whines" more at de acceleration than usual, nothing more, no clunks or weird noises. How would I detect a loose chain?

take belt out.Rotate the 2ndary back and forth. There is always a tad amount of play, but if it like turns like 1 or 2 inches..you will know it.Otherwise drop the pipes, get to the chain adjuster and see if it is loose or tight. And if you are still in doubt..take off chain case cover. There may be other issue's if that mechanic didn't put things back the right way..like spacers or tightened the nut and bolt properly..you never know these days when someone does work for you.

I drive a viper, but when i asked about my chain case wine i was told it was to tight. So i redid it to finger tight and a 1/4 turn back and no more wine. So by that i would say they made it too tight. But i drive vipers so my 2cents. CCC

just check the adjuster in the chaincase i do it by hand you can feel it take up the tension in the chain then jam the nut...
