Well there u have it, just killed my 95 Vmax i had leaned out to much and the kid took it out for a spin, he then came back on one cylinder, yap compression gone, i Though there was a hole in the piston but no rings where welded to the side of the piston on the exhaust side so now got to wait till the dealer opens tomorrow to get a new piston and rings, also owne out the cylinder hopfully!! then try again.... merry christmas son.

Ya thats the one !!!
i want and set the air screws back to stock settings, disrigarding the instructions for the pipes . so i paid for it lol

Correct me if i am wrong but if you have a leaner mixture then youre engine runs hotter and if you open up the air screwyou are leaning it out wright?

what you say about lean mixture is right, but the pilot screw on bottom of carb is for the idle circuit and on your carb its a fuel screw, opening it would give you more fuel closeing it would give you less fuel, doing either would mostly effect idle

Just wondering if you have that GYT head gasket in there (the short one that was used to boost compression? If you do go back to the stock gasket.
The same thing happened to my 600-twin when the kid rode it. it It had about 5000 miles on it , those motors are trying to shack themselves apart all day long...... but it will be good to go with some new parts in there.

What are you asking or trying to say?

There was a GYT proformance kit sold back in 1986 that was part of a clutch kit... it had a shorter head gasket that could have been installed by a dealer.
I was just wondering if this motor may have had that done , I think that is what gave me problems when the younger kid took over the sled. With the gas today tthat motor does not like to run at half throttle with the extra compression of that short head gasket.
