There were 3 of us today riding the River system. Not bad except for the blinding snow..could not see to far ahead today. We got to a point in the River where there is an old bridge that is shut down, tons of debris from the high levels of water this year up against the structure.Got as close to the side of the bridge as possible, keeping our heads low not to smack the beams. It was full of friggin concrete,re-bar and the such.Decided to go for it..it was a rough run over that stuff, but the SRX made it.The 2 guys behind me got stuck on the rocks good..lmao at them.Going back we didn't want to go thru it again, but had no choice as there was no other way..we all made it..I didn't like the sound of my studs against the rocks.
Also there was a rock damn at a few points along the way..one in particular I went to the side that looked good and bang my carbides caught something and she whipped the ski's and the handle bar snapped me good and almost broke my wrist..man that hurt.Coming back we decide to go more over from that spot and BANG!! caught my carbides good again and what a crack sound....There is like a steel friggin plate going across the damn DAMN>>
Long story short..it is crazy out there.I lost in 1 ski at least 3 to 4 sections of carbide, didn't check the other yet.In my track I noticed 2 studs lost there point and WOW 1 stud completely pulled out of the track..I guess it is not use putting a replacement stud there now since it tore thru....
All in all a good day with about 120 miles on the SSRX.Tomorrow we are headed out again. for more punishment.
Oh forgot to mention we broke thru some ice and opened her up a tad...The third guy thru it panicked...!! but made it thru. Can't believe there are the odd spots still not frozen. And the damn SRX was doing some heavy duty straight up landings climbing the big drifts up the River bank in places.but never got stuck.. Lots of snow heading this way for weeks end..can't wait..this is sledding......

The good old La Salle river I presume...lol... I am headed to the whiteshell tomorrow morning for a few days. The better half rented a cabin in Inverness falls. Going to take the sleds out and try some riding but I have heard there is alot of open water still and the ice is thin there. Trails when I last checked were not groomed yet so gonna have to make my own... Saw tons of guys out riding today in La Salle. Alot headed towards Domain and Starbuck..

Have fun.Yep the Lasalle, but we were on the Red River already..it is starting to look good, but a lot of drifts and ice peaks.Yep the Lake areas are not safe..you better watch out for obstacles..they are there below the snow.Just today on my 600 caught a roll of heavy wire in a field.Thank goodness I wasn't going that fast.It caught the left ski..basically an instant stop..but the whole sled spun to 3 o'clock position and the handle bars really snapped my hands good.My ski was bent upwards, but after some time and some warmth in the garage it has bounced back.Just a small slash in the front of it.Trailing arm and everything looks ok..Between rebar, concrete, rocks, flat bars, train tracks,wire..I think my sleds will be in bad shape come season's end.We were doing a lot of drift busting along the Floodway near the Park.Nice high climbs and hard landings.I bent my ice scratcher right inward into the rail.Lucky it didn't jamb my track or tear it.ANOTHER THING TO FIX....
HAVE FUN...

I know about the debris. Just a few weeks ago I hit a boulder under the snow and busted the belly protector and snapped a trailing arm in half. I was out on the floodway north of Winnipeg by springhill. My bud I was riding with also nailed some angle iron with his ski but he luckily had no damage, just flipped him off the sled. I here we are supposed to get about 30cm of snow before the weekend... Woo Hoo... You have a good new years Doug and be safe out there. Happy New Year to all T.Y guys.. Off to the Whiteshell today... Hot tub, fireplace, sleding, ice fishing, I am going to be in heaven, oh, and the Steaks are marinating already..lol.. Safe Riding Everyone...
