hi there 1st post here;
I have a Enticer 340 here not sure of year, I'm guessing ~78-9ish, been sitting "forever"; I just got it home and it was "stuck"; trans fluid and WD 40 in the cyl yesterday, and pulling the starter off, so I could put a pr of channel locks on the starter cup got it free; more tranny fluid in the holes and I spun it with the elec starter, then checked compression; 135 in one hole 140 in the other; the choke in the carb is froze but the throttle is free;
this sled needs alot of help; bent ski,(dont ask; backed over the ski w/ my Dodge Dakota) seat toast, old gas for starters; IDK what-all else it will need.

I see a 78 Exciter on CL locally for sale with alot of new parts on it, but a blown engine; I'm looking to get "in" for cheap and have plans to go see the Exciter (awaiting a call-back)
How compatible are these 2 sleds as far as swapping parts???? I'm thinking of putting my engine on the Exciter just to be avble to go kick some snow; my 17 yo son and I are beginners; I've ridden other peoples machines before he hasn't; so I am not looking for anything crazy for a "1st sled";

Too many differences for a direct swap, but you can swap anything with enough effort. I would fix the Exciter engine or find another one to drop in it instead of trying to swap. I know I have one out back that is suppossed to run, but it has sat for quite a few years now.

well; the Exciter is claimed to be blown; I have the Enticer; I'm waiting for a response from the guy on the Exciter via CL;

cool and thanks; I just picked up a 79 300 enticer yesterday as a parts donor; I think I will swap the stuff from the 340 onto the 300 as the 300 is in alot better shape and needs less. along with this will be the 340 engine going onto the shorter 300 chassis.
