Just stumbled on to a 78 8G9 w/ matching engine from the original owner. Engine is fresh. Seat has a small tear. Hood was damaged and replaced w/ a plain black 79-80 hood. Pretty much complete but have not seen pic. On my way to look at it as I speak. Just a ball park idea what it's worth assuming it needs a full resto? Thanks

All depends on what condition the pan and tunnel are in. You can find most of the other parts (not cheap, but they are around). A full resto is going to cost you, if your looking for a mint sled spend the money and buy one that somebody else spent all there time and cash on and is ready to look at something else. Seen it, been there, done that! hman

Tony is dead on. Over the last 2-3 years 78s have started to move up considerably in price, It's not uncommon to see asks in the 3K range for "mint" sleds on the vintage stage (that's almost liquid twister $$). However once you leave that world they can be had in reasonable condition for reasonable prices. If the owner is not a "vintage guy" and is just looking to sell his old sled $1000-$1500 is not out of the question and probably well worth it. BTW just tripped on a set of 79s in that range
