My friend SRX seem to have a big problem. We have checked and cleaned all the carburator, changed intake gasket, the engine is freshly rebuilded, new plugs.... The problem is : at idle, everytings is good, but the acceleration is poor and over 5-6k rpm, there some big back fire (I can see the fire out of the 3 carburators) and big backfire out of the exhauts... Forget to say, new gasoline was used !
Any Ideas ?

I know this is going to sound goofy, but check the secondary clutch. My kids have a Polaris that we were just having the same problem with. We Cleaned the carbs, checked compression, electrical, and everything we could think of. Come to find out it was the secondary clutch!

What do you means with secondary clutch ?? Backfire could be reliated with that ?

The engine sound like he want to get out of the cab lol, no rev limited, just BIG backfire with fire out of the carbs !

I am guessing you are flooding it due to sticking or inproperly adjusted floats or sticking starter jets. Too much fuel getting into the engine.

check your YPVS motor.i just got done working on 02 viper & the 1 cable was off track & in another track so 2 cables in same spot it ran ok at idle but punch the throttle fall on it's face & back fire did the same as you did on carbs & every thing in between.yeap check the ypv motor this sled runs good now.good luck

WHENEVER YOU HAVE A BACKFIRE OR A EXPLOSION SORTA -A SPEAK, THATS A PROBLEM WITH SPARK, A COIL, A CDI, A STATOR, SOMETHING IN YOUR INGINTION. CARBS ARE WORKING FINE, THATS FUEL GETTING OVER BURNED OR A INTIMIT,IN SPARK CAUSEING A KICK BACK. 3:16 (yammie tony)

X2,
when my sled wasnt firing on the middle cylinder, I'd always get a buildup of raw fuel and a backfire... Could definately be electrical dont rule that out... You might want to check the condition of your reeds to after having the backfires
