No such thing as a 500 xlt. they were all either 580(93-94) or 600(95-96) triples.
Ya your right. I just found out 600 is triple and the 500 is a twin on another forum. I purchsed the sled for my brother as I would never buy a poo for myself. I got a smoking deal on it and it will be his first sled. I'm sure he will be happy till I blow past him on the Yammie!! Its a 1999 polaris XLT 600 with reverse and e start.
xtra light trouble , they blow the cranks out

The XLT's were good sleds. Some crank issues were seen on early ones, but the 99 has the updated oiling lines for the crank. It will be totally fine and rock solid.
I had a 96 XCR600 which was a pepped up XLT. That sled was pull and go with no issues.
The 500 (488 LC in an indy 500, and 488 fan if an indy trail) is a twin cylinder about 80 hp in the LC version. Both are very reliable motors. I've got one of each.

Xtra, Light, Triple Light for a triple but, by no means light or lighter than a twin.....
