Just bought my SRX a year ago and it used to take 15 or more pulls to get it started. I adjusted the choke cable so it now opens all the way but still takes 6 or more pulls. Its only got 7000k. I had a new one back in 01 and kept it for 3 years and dont remember it taking anymore than 2-3 pulls. When I started it the first time this fall I had to put fuel in the cylinders to get it going after pulling it 30 times. But I have since adjusted the choke. Whats my next step?

I had the same problem on my 02 srx there is a small jet on the backside of the carb between the airbox and carb it had black gunk in the orifice.I believe that is part of the pilot circuit i blew carbcleaner and compressed air threw the whole thing with all the jets out.It now starts 5 pulls max compared to 10 to 20 pulls .

This subject has been discussed to great lengths...if you type in "hard starting SRX" in the search box at top of page you will get a lot of info.
Try this as a start..

I took the lead from SideShowBob and replaced the factory fuel pump with the red head fuel pump. Used to have to dump gas down the carbs on every cold start, and now the max. number of pulls is about 6 when Ice Cold. After a brief shut down it used to take many pulls, depending on how long it sat, and now it takes ONE, maybe two max.
