Do I want to heat it? Nice sled but can tell it sat around for a while. Have spare clutch but dont want to hurt anything. I know cant put inpact on clutch tool.

well always did it with no problem with a impact ..i hate to snap my hand without a impact ....and if it doesnt wanna pop off with the tool u can try flip the sled on is side and fill up the hole with oil then put sealer on thread tool and try it back oil will make a hydrolic pressure ...

Your not suspposed to but everybody does it dealers included.Good prevenitive mantenance is to pop them off once a year clean up the ends with steelwool.

well did it for 10 year and never broke nothing...............do it like ur head want to do it but ill keep my impact ...for sure make sure not to **** the thread or bend the puller

you have to keep the shaft clean from rust.I use a green scotch brite pad to clean her up..on the shaft and inside the clutch, then wipe it clean with a rag and wd40.Last week I was removing 1 clutch and had the breaker bar with an extension and it wasn't breaking loose.I put more pressure and all of a sudden I felt I sheared the puller bolt..thinking..oh no not me now.Since there were a few guys that had done that,I stoped and now was thinking the worst.I started to back it up and Bingo I felt the break and bar and socket dropped down..Thank goodness it was my 3/8" extension that just got twisted and sheared right off at 1 point. After that I cleaned the shaft good.Tried again tonight and this time the clutch pops off easily using breaker bar and extension..

do u still got some snow over there .... here its green every where :o| :o|

we have snow yepp..but it has been friggin cold as of late. The winds have removed a lot of the snow from fields..but the Rivers are nicely frozen now.The smaller River system is nice..totally smooth and goes for 100 plus miles. My yard is piling up with a lot of snow already also. The ditches are rough, areas where snow drifted is awesome for climbing and busting. It is -25 C right now here,no rain coming till late March at least..I put on around 750 miles already with both sleds.

lucky lucky lucky ..snow is all melt here and nothing coming

The most important part is to spend the money on a OEM, OEM, OEM, OEM puller. Just do a search and read about all the guys before you that twisted off a cheap puller. Then you have real problems. CCC

That's meeeee. I had to cut 2 inches off of the clutch shaft to get broken puller out. Bought my puller from Aaen. Was told by them that "Olav said this is the puller for an SRX." I figure GREAT cuz that guy knows his $h!t. Well it was the wrong puller. And now they won't send me the right one or my money back. I'm about to flip out on them pretty sOon.

get a spec for an OEM puller, buy one and then place it up against the other one and look how the threads are machined.See if they are different or not..post a pic of them side by side and we will see for ourselves. You should Bill them for a refund and a new Clutch..that is BS.Don't you love how companies are always right and we are wrong.....they won't take responsibilty for their lack of knowledge.A lot of times they use non experienced people at minimum wage.I know that at the dealer I sometimes deal with..the old timer that started the company has knowlege and has been around the block a few times. He is their main engine re-builder also and knows the Yami'e inside and out.An interesting fella to talk to.

Lube threads and buzz it off with a low power impact setting! Don't ram on it with a big 3/4 drive unit or something ridiculous! Make sure to start threads by hand first to avoid cross threading!!! Do you really think dealerships and mechanics get out the breaker bar with a 4' cheater and a hammer?? No! One of the most common causes of premature bearing failure is a condition called "false brinelling" (I apologize if the spelling is incorrect) this is caused by dimpling or damaging the race/races of a bearing with such means like heavy pounding, such as the breaker bar, cheater, hammer like hell method! Once the race is damaged think of how many times the balls of that bearing contact that damaged area @7000-9000 rpm...... Just some food for thought for the next time you or someone with you is about to reach for that 48oz mawl to give that mushroomed over clutch puller a good wack!!! Just think of those poor crank bearings and their internal clearances of .0008-.002 of an inch(depending on the size)

Impact worked. Soaked it with pb blaster and impact took it right off. Thanks guys.

impact always works ................ just need to get attention not to strip the thread or bend the tool

I disagree that a impact always works!! It didn't work on mine last year.

always someone that impact doesnt work ......maybe the impact was not a good one ..........then a huge pry bars would do the trick or bend the puller :letitsnow

Pump it full of grease, to the point where it is hard to get the puller in, stick the puller in, and turn, and then it should pop off.
