fixing up a 99 srx for my buddy. finally got it running after 2 years of sitting.. #3 cyl power valve was siezed in cyl cleaned up all 3 now it runs good but mis fire. any one have ideas?
A couple ideas:
1] clean those carbs...this HAS TO BE DONE...you must be VERY thorough cleaning them and not skip any passages or jets as well as the "Top Hat " filters under the needle + seats. This sled has sat awhile so its probably been gummed up by old fuel.
2]refer to step 1 !!
3] install new spark plugs
4]if you still have a misfire check the reed pedals for chipping, cracks ect
5]check/replace all three spark plug caps, they have a resister in them that sometimes fails...its about time to replace all 3 anyway [if you know which cylinder is currently misfiring, only on the 98/99 SRXs, you can interchange the spark plug wires between cylinders and see if the misfire follows one particular plug wire]
Let us know how you make out.

Yea that's one thing I havnt cleaned yet is the carbs I just was trying to get it going first then go from there thanks.
Oh one more thing. There is spark not sure if it is strong enough though and flames come from the 3rd cyl carb when it back fires
Hey just to let ya know I check compression the third cyl has 30 psi. The other 2 have 120

Well there's your problem ;>)
Sorry for the smartalick comment, couldn't resist. I can't think of anything that would give such drastic compression numbers that doesn't at the very least require pulling the cyl. head so I'd start there so as to get a good look at the top of the piston and cylinder. It probably sat for so long because someone burned it down and just parked it.
Come to think of it, an obstruction in the intake for that cylinder(airbox/carb/reeds) could produce such numbers but I'd expect you'd have seen such a blockage by now. You'll be able to tell for sure by pulling the carb rack and reeds which will need to be done when yanking the cylinder (I have a feeling you'll be going at least that far).
