what is the better belt the ultimax xs, or the OEM yamaha belt? the yamaha is cheaper.
the xs was the only belt that blew on my venture in 10,000 miles then it was in only 300 miles . i use gates now , its the best i had

i've used oem exclusively, but used a gates last year. they seem pretty identical to me. go with whats cheaper in my opinion.
OEM worked always for me.
I have my orignal oem belt that came with the sled as a spare. I tried a ultimate xs and it blew in half a season.

Same with me I blew a ultimate xs after I broke it in. I only got about 300 miles out of it. Since then I only use oem and have never blown a belt!

Ultimax sucks. I blew 7 of them in 1500 miles on my old 600mm. Oem belts last forever and are cheaper. No brainer.

OEM all the way. Relatively cheap and the quality is there. ![Yrules :yrules: :yrules:](https://totallyamaha.net/images/smilies/yrules.gif)

My sled chews through aftermarket belts like crazy ! The rubber compound is different than OEM. Definately OEM for me !! There are several writups on here all with pretty much the same answer !!

7!!! where they free?
All those belts are good quality items. However, the clutches need to be adjusted for the specific belt and sled setup you have. The reason you blow belts (other than burning it while loading, getting stuck, etc.) is that too much heat is generated due to your clutches not setup correctly for that particular belt or in need of rebuilding. Off-trail riding can also require more side pressure to keep the belt from slipping.
Personally I like the 8DN belt for endurance.

I ran my original belt 5000 miles and only changed it because it had so many miles. It still looked good and worked great. I am on the second OEM and the sled has just short of 8000 miles on it. Why would I change with that kind of success?
