I am looking for some info on stock pipes that are "cut" by bender, looking at a used set and he claims it showed a 17hp differance over stock on a dyno, i find this hard to beleive. Does anyone have any input on these?

If that was the case he would have a shop full of pipes, Mr. Viper told me to cut 3/8 off the end as well, but this is for a drag motor only with agressive porting.

I have heard this also but it isn't going to benefit a stock engine and even on a full mod engine it sure as hell isn't going to give it 17h.p. more!!! If it did EVERYBODY would be running these "Bender cut pipes"!!LOL

HP claims are always interesting... here's a local craigslist ad for SRX Power Inc pipes; "triple pipes brand new 25 hp increase"

HOLY CRAP!!! Whats the guys number? I am buying thos pipes!! LMFAO!!!!

I tried the power inc. pipes, they did ad a very little if that, but put me into a whole nother class at the races, stick with the stk pipes and don't whack em up, no way is it gonna make a seat of the pants improvement but add headache .

Where is Mr Viper saying to cut the pipes? We have tried removing material from the body of the pipes as well as tried shortening the manifolds. Neither of these mods made any gains in our dyno tests!!!

I am putting together one of his motors now and he toold me to cut 3/8 off the head pipe.

Anything I have read stated to shorten an expansion chamber for higher RPM you had to remove material from both the centre section as well as the header pipes unless you were correcting an existing deficiency in design. I spent a lot of time studying pipe design quite a while back and actually came up with dimensions for a set of pipes for my modded up RZ500, had them built to my specs and they are still on the bike . I have three other sets of after market pipes for this bike, Toomy's, Lomas, Tuffry's, but I run my own because I built them...LOL!...that doesnt necessarily mean they're that good!!

pipe length is only part of the equation, it (pipe length) must match the porting, must go along with ign. timing and then the correct operating rpm to tie them all togehter.

Are you going to gain power from just cutting the pipe...NO, not with a stock srx pipe.

I will however take a set of these 17hp increase pipes, because it would save me alot of money buying aftermarket pipes and modding them, sign me up, 17hp increase, wow!!!!....................just imagin the whole engine package with headwork,carbs,porting.....215hp trail 700 srx's....sweet......LMAO :o|

JUST A EXAMPLE WHAT DON POSTED, AND I KNOW, I AM OLD AND YOU GUYS ARE YOUNG, YEARS AGO (before most here were born ) WE DID THE PIPE MOD TO THE 78-79 SRX 440 TO INCRESE RPM WHEN MOTOR WAS PORTED, BIGGER CARBS, TIMING etc. SPEC WAS ACTUALLY TO CUT STOCK PIPE TO 76 SRX LENGTH TO INCRESE RPM FROM 9000 TO 9500. IT REALLY WORKS NICE WHEN ITS A TOTAL PACKAGE. 3:16 (yammie tony)
