This may sound dumb, but I've read the Tech article on how to put the stock skid back in but I don't understand how to "Unbolt the traction rods" Do you just loosen the nuts in the middle until they seperate or unbolt them off the skid. Just a little confused. I'm not use to this type of skid. Any help would be great. THanks!

I have always just put a ratchet strap around a couple of the brackets in the suspension to take enough preload out of the springs to slip the bolts in. Works like a champ.

Un bolt the bolts at the bottom of the traction rods about a 1/2" or so. This is the easiest and safest way to remove the preload off of the shock. Dont forget to tighten them up when you are done.

I've tried many different ways over the years using jacks and ratchet straps but the most success I have had is to roll the sled completely on its side, I did this a few days ago and it only took me 15 mins. First, I take the bar pad off, I get a jack stand and extend it out all the way and roll the sled onto its side and let the riser sit on the stand, I usually put a mat at the rear of the sled as to not scratch up the plastics. Next I bolt on the front mounts, then I bolt up the rear. Next I slack off the transfer bolts about a half inch and mount up the center bolts. I always put the least amount of preload on the front and rear shocks and losen up the rear wheels and slack adjusters. Hope this helps

I should also mention that I only ever do this when there is very little gas in the tank, I'm not sure if it makes a difference but I have never wanted to take any chances.

Thanks for the input. I'm going to attempt this in the morning. We got about 6-8 inches of the fluffy stuff on the ground now and are expecting more by the morning.
