I have a stock 78 Exciter 440. My friends and I are having a very competive backyard oval racing series on snow. Looking for some mods. I wanted to do the 480 phazer top end swap, but after reading some other post others are saying to do some porting and clutch work and id be better off. If I keep the stock cyclinders people are saying to ditch the butter fly carb for a round slide. I have a salvage yard close but not sure what to ask for. Keihin seems to be the carb of choice, But what size? Trying to locate a 102c also. But need some help with the setup. I have located a track with 3/4" lugs, 116" x 15" new for $300, the phazer top end is going to cost me about $400, and the clutch about $300 if I can't get a used one. my budget is about $500 so I need the best bang for the buck. Any help would be great, thanks for the help. I have tried to find this information searching the forums but have come up short on the details. sorry if this has been answered before.

Please Help.

I was really hoping some one would give me some advice tonight. I have decided to go with the 480 top end kit. I will be going to the salvage yard in the morning. I am hoping to find a 102c comet there, but since I need the gear drive I'll probally be out of luck. Does anyone know if any other sleds run the 102c with the gear drive that I should be looking for? Thanks for the help.
