Hello all,
I was able to get a 02 Viper that was bought in 04 and sat in a driveway for 6 years. I cleaned it all up, got it all good and greasy, and took it up to the trails. It is pure stock and a real pain to ride. This thing was all over the place. At low RPM's the belt was slipping and clutch was making a lot of noise. I ordered some Bergstrom wear rods for the skis and will pick the track to help with traction. I dont know much about clutchs so what are you guys doing to improve performance or what should I look for to check the wear? Thanks in advance.....

first thing I would do is pop off the front clutch and completely take it apart cleaning it, sounds like it has rust or whatever on the main shaft and its hanging up.
as far as the darting goes if that whats your describing, youll need to shim the back of the ski rubber some, common on alot of yamaha sleds. i believe theres information on the tech section.
I would get the clutchs working correctly first then ride it, should be running 8500-8600rpm and then you can go onto a clutch kit change.
