I broke my mag side pv cable last night and am in the position of waiting for a couple I just purchased off Viperking (thank you very much too) before I can put everything back together.I had the chance to buy a cable from a 99 to put on but hesitated but am now wondering if it would work.Other than being longer the throw of the cable itself should be then same right?Once it's adjusted to spec (2.5mm) it should work the same it would just look funny having one long cable in place with the other 2 short ones.

99 uses the long cables, same as a 2000-02 srx does,so no, it wont work. the cables are shorter on the 98 because of the servo being down front instead of up on top of the clutch cover like 99-02 is.

the throw would be the same but its gonna be REAL long on a 98, its gonna likely be a problem looping it and not making it wear out faster from the bends.

just throwing this out there but i believe 2 of the cables are the exact same cable and one is different on the 98. i believe the one closes to the chain case is longer and the 99's will not fit as mentioned above. ;)!

It would physically fit, the ends are the same, But like you said it will be extra long. I think if you were to get it routed around somehow, it would be fine for a while.

Yeah the pto and center are identical cables it's the mag side one that's a bit longer.I know that the other years are a lot longer I just figured I could put one on as a quick fix until I got the right one.
