I took the sled out the other day for a short ride and a couple of time when I would let off the throttle the TORS would come on. I added a 1" riser this summer and I think I have the cables routed right. Witch cable on the carb control's the TORS or where is the sensor and how do you adjust it?
 
I have a 98 msrx with a similar problem. Check the actuation of the lever itself. That had happened on my vmax4 and gave me he**a problems in the hills.
I also am curious if anyone has an answer. My msrx has the wiring harness routed above motor already and is solid, but after sudden decel, or mogul section, it doesnt go anywhere, just bogs from tors, but everytime I shutdown, and restart immediatly, it runs fine(until next bumpy trail section. Anyone? Please, im a mountain rider who doesnt like that many breaks!! Thanks to all!!
 
You need to adjust the freeplay of the throttle cable, right on the carb rack. I think it's 1/4" of freeplay on most models. If your idle changed at all after the handle bar riser, this is definately the culprit.

On the TORS kicking in over rough terrain...Could be the switch in the throttle block getting worn, and your hand pushing sideways on the throttle lever...could be quite a few things. Might not be the tors, but a short somewhere in the steering column.
 
The cable that controls the carb is ok but the second cable has no slack in it. What does the second cable control? Thanks.

I think you need it if your throttle sticks and you fall off?
 
the TORS, is the Throttle Overide System , and if the throttle sticks it will not let the sled rev up for safety. If its kicking in , that means as John said you throttle cable is too tight. Follow the cable and make sure the routeing nothing is binding.

sx viper mn the other cable is for the oil pump, tors is a switch under the idle adjust screw with two wires , throttle override switch, you need it
