Been fighting this one for some time.
I've checked continuity on my grip warmers. Have about 4 ohms in series.
However my thumb warmer seams to have really high resistance about 46 ohms. (anyone have a spec for a viper?) I checked the grip warmer wiring to the CDI, less than 1 ohm resistance. Stator charge coil resistance is within spec (02 srx manual) at .4 to .5 ohms.

Does anyone know where the ground side of the warmers goes to? Like where the chassis ground is? Also does anyone else have any ideas? Don't have any known electrical issues, lights seam nice and bright, ignition is good. This is a standard viper (no electric start)

Thanks,
Ryan

so neither of the hand grips work? have you tried to just hook up 1 at a time and see?, this will expose the bad one quickly.

Correct, they both seam to not warm up (haven't tried them yet this year in cold) Was thinking of trying that next. Would it matter that my heated visor is wired in parallel to the grips? It has always been that way and i never seamed to have a problem. Does the same thing with my visor unplugged. From my searches on here all I've found is that it is normal. My dad has a 02 SRX his work, seams to be very similar setup. I know mine were hot before.

Thanks,
Ryan

the grips are ffed from the cdi box, the heated shield should not be fed from the cdi but the wire going to the headlight dimmer switch in your sled. I dont know what would happen when you add the shield to the warmer circuit coming from the cdi.

I would hook up 1 grip at a time and see which one is faulty, if your shield and grips worked before then I wouldnt think its an issue now unless the wire is rubbed thru or whatever.

the viper and new 2001-02 srx get the grip power same place.

Well for what it takes, I could just take the heated shield out of the wiring and try it. If specs are the same as the newer SRXs then it all checks out. Original grips, I wouldn't be surprised if they were bad but they both ohmed 2 ohms each, about 4 together which makes sense they are in series. I haven't checked stator voltage output yet but I assume its fine as my lights are okay.

Thanks,
Ryan
