I recently bought a 1998 Vmax 700 Deluxe.
When I went to look at it, owner said battery was dead.
Battery is a Deka ETX18L AGM Battery that was new last season (looks mint).
I bought a CTEK 3300 charger to try and charge this thing..the charge mode is for a possibly sulphated battery and is supposed to bring it back to life if that is the problem.
However, 6 hours into the "charge" and I don't even have a "charging" indicator on the charger.
If this will not take a charge, what are my next troubleshooting steps?
Going riding in the UP Michigan next week and don't want any problems..THIS WILL BE MY WIFE's FIRST TIME RIDING HER OWN SLED! (and you know what that means..things have to go perrrrrrrfect so she doesnt complain!)

I have one of those deka agm betterys in my raptor 660. They are very good and it always takes a charge. I usually use 2 amp or 10 amp. Are the connections good on the clamps? Also does your charger have the option for agm/gell cell batterys?

If a battery is not properly stored it will die a quick and quiet death. The new chargers dont alow you to cheat a battery back to life. You are looking at 2 options. 1 is just go buy yourself a new battery. If your wife is like mine (and mine is tough by all means) the last thing you want is trouble with her sled. 2 is to cheat it back. If you have a old style charger laying around, and i mean old it will bring it back to life. They dont have all those safety deals on them just a good charge no matter what. Other thing i found works is a staight charger off my generator, brings em back every time. If you get it back remember to take care of it and it will take care of you. My batteries are well taken care of and last forever. For my sleds and jet skis i found napa is the cheapest around here. CCC
Thanks..I have a really ancient charger, I am going to try that and see what happens..just trying to make sure I am not spending this time thinking it is battery to find out a couple days before the trip that the problem is something else that involves getting a part that I can't get in time for the trip!

If you have another good battery you may be able to trick the charger that way. Use some jumpers from one battery to the other and hook up the charger to the dead one. This may allow the good battery to instill a surface charge to the dead one. Set the charger to a low setting a leave it for a few hours.
