I think I have to replace the brakes on my 79 enticer 300. Has anyone done this before and if so can you give me some tips on how to do it. And if anyone knows of any links that might show me how I appreciate it thanks so much.
IDK but mine needs them too; I adjusted the cable way out, should get me thru this season but it should have new ones.

Well the good news is all those parts are still available. I am starting to wonder if I just need to adjust my cable or possibly replace it, this sled sat for a couple of years before I aquired it.

never ever had to change a set of brake pads yet on the 2 we own. the 79 et250 has enough hours on it to qualify for old age pension and the pads are still good on it.

I just replaced one of the brake pads on my 1980, 340 ET this morning. However, they both come off together. After 31 years and 12000 KM's, it was worn out.
If the pads are not worn out, the brakes are easily adjustable by turning the nut on the brake cable, down by the driven clutch, counter clockwise.
To replace the pad was another issue. I found I had to remove the muffler, the chain case cover, and then the top sprocket in order to push the driven clutch back far enough to get the cotter pin out of the larger pin that goes through the brake pad arms.
You will want to pay attention to the springs on the brake pads arms as they are different.
I was the best part of 2.5 hrs. doing this as I had to figure it out. I thought there had to be an easier way. I figure it would take me the best part of 1.5 hrs to do it again. Also, if I were hiring somebody to this, I would change both pads at one time.

Thanks agripatrol that helps out a lot. I found a picture of the pads and I think I do have to replace them it looks like all the pad is gone and it's just metal on metal. And I think the cable is sticking too looks like I know what I'll be doing soon.
