After a 2 season layoff from sledding I'm back in. I got around to adding a Boss seat & riser set & bars from RSI. I went 10" on the risers which is about 6" over the stock rise. I bought extended cables to make it work. Question is---As I remember setting the stock oil cable gap by separating the cable sleeve at the adjuster nut & measuring like 16mm?...or something close to that.
With the aftermarket extended one it is different than the stock one. You just have about 5/8 inch or so of threads to shorten or lengthen the cable. Has anyone done this & where did you set it?
Also for the basic operation of the oil pump...at what point on the throttle should the pump be wfo...that may help me adjust it.
Not sure if I'm getting this across clear?

I don't know about the RSI cables, but I put on Mountain Viper cables to run a 4" riser, and I currently have them set at apprx. 18.25mm of gap, to equal about 2.8oz of oil per gallon of fuel used.

I have the aftermarket ones (not sure if they are rsi) but they have an adjustment at the middle and bottom. When I first installed them I was way off, using way too much oil. I had to readjust the bottom adjuster to get it into range. I just did that last night and now have another 4mm of range in the mid adjuster. As a reference point if you have not yet removed your old cable measure from the top of the plate where your engine mount sits to the top of the arm that the cable moves. (you need to remove the engine mount close to the oil pump to change the cable) the measurement on mine was about 18mm. The other issue I had was the threaded rod on the bottom of the cable was a loose fit into the slotted threaded hole on the cable mount. An extra jam nut below the cable mount bracket fixed this but i don't remember if I had to slot the nut to get it onto the cable. I hope this helps.
