I just put 38mm carbs are my mountain max,I have power Inc pipes, boysen rage cage, high compression head, and air box mod with slp intakes. I am running 320 mains in the pto side with 1300 top temp and 330 mains in my middle and 1365 temp and mag is 340 mains with 1320 temp. With these bigger carbs I seem to burn Alot more gas. And judgeing by my plugs my sled is jetted perfectly but by my gauge it seems lean what do you guys think.

I have tried thunder jets on my old carbs and didn't like them they seemed to richen to much on the mids.

read your piston wash

I run tmx 38 punched to 40 Aaens set up. You have to cordinate piston wash with temp. There can be a big variance in prob location causing inacurate temps. But u need to find that out real quick cause aluminum melts at 1250 the farther your probes are located away from the exaust port to a point the hotter it reads

Okay I have spx pistons and it's hard to see piston wash due to the tops are black.but I have run it hotter than that to but then I got concerned. The aaen book says that up to 1350 is good I will try and see the piston wash as good as I can and go with that. What about fuel milage is yours worse than stock carbs

pistons

If they are black then you are lean. Fuel mileage is not as good as with stock carbs. Also you need to check and make sure the carbs are opening all the way. I had to run a throtle lever off of a yamaha 600 to get mine to open all the way. You maybe running 3/4 throtle and the needles have some affect there. Im running 260 mains right now and ride between 3000-6000
