i have a 97 mm 600 with smart carbs. its jetted with 157.3 main i belive. stock jets are 160. it ran fine with the stock can. after i put the mbrp on, it seems to run fine for about 5 min and then looses all power and will bog all the way threw. max rpm that it will hit is 7000. i know aftermarket cans will lean it out, but it has always seemed to run on the rich side. is this can making it lean out that far?

one of your sensors may be on the fritz. couple of questions: has the sled been ran this season prior to the installation of the can? or was the can installed prior to the riding season after the sled sat for the off season?

you also have the atmospheric pressure sensor, the air temp sensor, the fuel switch as well as the solenoids. any could be offsetting the carbs.

for simplicity, try installing the stock can back on and see if the situation persists or goes away. thats the easy troubleshoot.

after that its the multimeter and sensors to be tested.

Shouldn't he get a flashing diagnostic light? I have a 97 MM600 also with smart carb and I am running the stock jets #160 with a MBRP can and V-force reeds with no problems. I also switch between stock can and MBRP and have never had an issue. Did you buy the can used? When I bought mine and installed it it also ran fine for 5 -10 minutes then all of a sudden it had no power so I pulled it off and found the insulation in the can itself was coming out and plugging the outlet. Cleaned it out and no problem since.

only if the self diagnostic function is working. i thought about that but figured if it wasnt mentioned, i would rule that out after the can exchange.

well i pulled the carbs off and my slides where off, fixed that and it seemed to run a lot better but there is still a slight bog from 7000-7500. almost when the clutch start shifting. clutch is set to my elv. gonna try to drop a tooth on my drive gear. gonna go from a 19/39 to a 18/39 ratio.
