srx shock on a vmax

i have a 99 vmax 500dlx and the rear, well it $ucks! will a shock from a 2001 srx 700 help out any? i don't car about stiffness, its just a beat around sled, something light for the jumps, so i'm looking for some stiffness and travel. will it work? thanks!
 

It will fit...but then you'll have a short travel rear suspension...Try a Viper 1st gen rear shock.
 
I wouldn't think so...the shock itself is a better shock b/c its a rebuildable KYB but if you are jumping you're going to want some travel. The SRX rear is not designed for jumping...or big bumps for that matter.
