hey guys, 99 sx vmax.. brake light only lights up when you CLAMP on the lever, and i mean LOCK them up... then it comes on.. running light works great, no other electrical problems..
is a switch worn?
something not adjusted?
i know they should be pretty touchy.. i don't wanna lock up my brakes to let my buddys know im slowing down.

I can't recall if there is any Adjustment at the switch, but it may be re-installed wrong. The switch is located under the lever pivot. They have been known to freeze up and not work as well.

Same thing on my 96Xt...Running light works fine, but the break light didn't work at all last year and for some reson unknown to me it works fine now...I went through all the wiring and nothing was wrong...Now it works???
how would i go about testing it?

hydrolic brake? bleed the brake, cable brake, switch button may be worn or brake arm, loose switch.
