Also SX-R is a single head single pipe motor.

SRX is more of a lake racer has triple pipes and power valves where the sxr is more of a trail sled with a bit more for suspention but does not have power valves and only has a single pipe. stock for stock the srx will be a fair bit faster.

i owned a 2001 700 sxr and now own a 2002 srx 700. there are alot of differences as the other boys mentioned. srx is lower to the snow, it has much more horsepower because of the differences in the engines. the hoods are different and so are the belly pans. the srx body is a little wider in the front but the ski stance is narrower, and also has less travel in the front than sxr. handle bars are lower and narrower, also the sxr has a different cold air intake at the instrument panel. open the hood on both, you'll see the difference. long live the srx.........
He probably won't like you giving him an arse woop'n. LOL. It all depends on his riding style. They're both nice sleds.

The SRX is a take no prisinors racer. Its a triple-triple (triple cylinder, triple exhaust pipes) so its very fast on the top-end. Even stock these sleds will do 120 mph. They have a different hood than the SXr, the hood is a lot more bulgy to make room for the pipes.
The SRX has a lot less suspension travel than the SXr. I believe the SRX only has about 6", the SXr has something like 8"-10". However, the SRX does corner a lot better due to its lower center of gravity.
The SXr is much more of a trail sled. Its only got 1 exhaust pipe, so it doesnt make the kind of power that an SRX does. I would estimate the SXr puts out around 115 hp, whereas the SRX is closer to 140. As I said, the SXr has a lot better suspension than the SRX.
The easiest way to remember the difference is like this, the SRX is a lake sled, the SXr is a woods sled.

lol, put him on an SRX and he'll be doing 100mph in no time, on that sled, 100mph isn't really fast.
the SX-R does sound like a good machine for him tho

I have the SX700R and love it. I have tried the srx and for me it is not my choice. It realy deppends on his driving styles.
There are a few free mods that can give you extra HP on the SXR and better throttle responce.
The SXR has the beter suspension but the SRX has better HP.
