might be a cause. you would be sucking in exhaust gas through the airbox. not to mention the back pressure is off . how sluggish was it? symptoms?
nothen to major...it was just kinda sluggish on bottom end..the top end was fine tho..but it was enough to notice somethin wasnt right

My y pipe was cracked. Made very little difference that I could tell, other than blowing goop all over everything. Had the crack welded and it cracked again. On my welders advice, Had it welded on both sides, between all pipes even though it wasnt cracked on all places. Hasnt cracked again. Welder says this keeps the stress even from heating and cooling.

now that I think back I believe mine has been welded as well. dont remember if it was running funny or not. are your powervalves clean? when I have had a valve stuck open the idle is loud and low end is a dog
ya everything is cleaned...but i cleaned the carbs the same time when i welded th ecrack..so kinda curious if t woul be dirty carbs or the crack..because the low end bog is gone

how dirty were the carbs? I would say that they were probably the more likely culprit

depending on the crack, it may make a little difference but not much. I welded mine this past off-season but didn't notice much difference after.
