I was just wondering, If I buy a Viper tunnel and bulkhead that already has the belly pans on it, can I drop my srx motor and suspension parts right in that without any other work than new mounting holes for the skid, buy a hood for it and go? Or is it totally different?

Re: viper

looks like a big job, but i'm sure its possible, you will have to use almost everything off of the srx, the viper has single exhaust so not sure if it would exit exactly the same, the srx also has that bulge in the hood for the pipes, you'll need to use the srx wiring, they are close to the same machine but at the same time very different,

Thank you, but I already know that people put srx pipes on viper engines but I really didn't find any answers about whether the front suspension off an srx will fit on a viper which I'm pretty sure has a totally different front suspension. I also don't know if my pipes will fit or not. Those guys made adapters for the manifold to goto the viper engine which is going to change the pipes fitting just a bit I would think. Even things like the gauges, do they use the same wiring?? I'm not a mechanic and I don't even know what else I might have been over looking so I thought that maybe someone might have done it before (since just about everything imaginable has been created or thought through by members on this site) without much hassle or fabrication, or realized that it wouldn't work easily at all (since just about everything imaginable has been created or thought through by members on this site), and might be able to tell me it this whole idea was feasible, not just if the pipes would or wouldn't fit.

I am sorry that this sounds defensive. I am not trying to bash you and I think that your question section is a good idea in spirit. However, I do know how to use search, and I always do before posting questions (mostly just to avoid looking like a dumb *** for not already knowing the answer). I feel that my question was and still is valid and when you put that at link up and tell people that it has already been covered in your tech link, it stops others who might be able to share knowledge from answering since they are going to believe that your tech section answered my question or that I am just another dummy too lazy to use the search.

Anyway, thank you for the information that you have included in your tech section it is helpful for many things and I hope it continues to grow and be used, just know that if I am posting with a question, I have already checked it.

If you took a stock viper, you could install your srx motor into it. you would need muffler mounts on frame, some welding and cutting and bending. You would also need to do something about the cooling rail on the back of the srx, you need only one thermostat housing and not the one that is on the srx, chuck it and make or buy one.
you need a 2001 only cdi box, not your 2000, though the rest of your engine electronics are the fine.
Now, srx radius rods will bolt right on but will need spacers on the inside as the inner rods are wider. This front cast section will cause those srx rods to act as wider rods because of new mounting location so your now wider front end wont leave a safe number of threads on your tie rods, you will need differnet tie rods from a viper/sxr/vmax.
your srx shocks, wont bolt on, you can use sx mounts but you will need to drill a hole in the bulkhead for them for the lower bolt. there is not enough material for this to hold well but it will work, mine cracked so be aware. Also, when using srx width shocks on srx rods bolted to a viper front section, your sled will set even lower than the srx and I am not even taking into consideration what arms your using.

If I have missed anything, let me know.

Nope, you adressed everything that I had had questions about anyway. I saw a tunnel bulkhead and belly pan for a viper for sale as one unit for a really reasonable price so it sort of caught my interest but I thought there were going to be some issues but I wasn't sure. I thought maybe since they were being produced at the same time that the frame stuff might be pretty close, but obviously the only practical way to do it would be if you had the entire chassis of the Viper and only the engine from the SRX. Good to know.
