I took the 98 700sx out for it's inaugural ride after I rebuilt it from the ground up http://www.totallyamaha.net/forums/showthread.php?t=72656 in case you hadn't seen the post. Anyway, it ran good for the most part. I had the chain tensioner back itself out, I thought I tightened the jamnut good enough... Oh well, I caught it right away and it was fine for the rest of the trip.
But what I'm wondering about is this... I installed a set of CPR pipes, they sound great!! I jetted the pipes the way a fellow member said he jetted his. Which is as follows... Fuel screws at 2 - 2-1/4 I set mine at 2-1/4, 47.5 pilots & 150 mains. Needles at 3 or 4, I set mine to 3.5. When I come to a stop it wants to hang at 3500-4000, if I blip the throttle 2 or 3 times It comes down to 2500, if I flip the choke to 1/2 for a second it drops down to a normal idle of 1600 to 1700.
Can I turn the fuel screw out more, or go to the next bigger pilots?
When I have chance tomorrow, I'm going to pull into the shop and look at the boots to make sure they are all on good. The pilots were all new and clean, BTW.

I looked it over can't find any air leaks. Can I turn the fuel screws out more? They are at 2-1/4 turns out. Or should I got to the next size up for pilots? I took it for few runs today, i filled up with non-oxy 93 (the other day I filled up with oxy 93) I thought maybe the ethanol might have effected it, but it still was hanging around 3500 when I came to a stop.

check throttle tension, and drop the idle by adjusting idle screw down on purpose. My 600 SXR always hangs, but now it sits at around 1800 rpm after a good run.Starting it the idle is then low..like 1300..I feather throttle as it warms up or hold throttle a bit at higher rpm till it warms up.If I adjust the motor to idle at 1700 rpm when started..then later it will idle only to 2500-3000 after a long run.Just the nature of the beast. You can try the next size pilot,as long as it doesn't load up at idle.Did it on the SRX..went to 45 pilots and maybe 1.5 turns fuel screws and works...try it..maybe it will or maybe it won't help.Maybe check your pilots to see if plugged.

Thanks guys. I'll try fiddling with my idle, but I'll also pick up a set of 52.5 pilots.

So if I use the 52.5 pilots should I put the fuel screw back to 1.5 or something inbetween that and 2.25 turns out?
