Please help is my Srx overheating???

Ok so I'm riding right now in derby vt just came back from a nice 70 mile ride and my temp light keeps blinking then it shuts off then it will blink again for a while... I'm not losing any coolant or performNce but the coolant hoses seem hot ... If the sled was over-heating it would be noticeable right??? It seems like the light goes off when I stay ay a steady throttle Is there a thermostat inthat housing off the water rail? Could it be going bad and getting stuck. ? I don't know why the light keeps blinking there does t seem to be a code as it just consistently blinks. Is it supposed to light up solid for over heating ???

i narrowwed it down to a thermostat... to get by for tommorow could i take it out??? its intermittent but on the way in today she got hot... not hot enough to boil over im wondering if i could get by with just taking it out...
 
thanks i ended up finding a washer same diameter as the stat so i put that in for some flow restriction and it worked perfectly...
 
nopw does anyone know what "shorter style" t-stat will work? i dont want this problem again and i believe theres less of a chance with the shorter one
