I have an '02 Viper runs great at idle, goes good till bout 30 or so then when you punch it it falls right on its face. Almost like it cuts to half power or lost a cylinder just bogs right down. Carbs have been cleaned, checked the power valves everything seems ok, looked around for chaffed wires... Seems like sometimes you can ease it up thru the bog easy and you can get by it and it will go till ya slow down again. Any ideas out there?

One possibility is the wiring harness could be rubbing through (down under motor) which has been a common issue with Vipers. Another issue could be a bad belt or if the secondary is not free floating on the jackshaft.

Did you clean the cards then this started? Check throttle free play, should be 2mm. Sounds like torrs kicking in? Ccc

Not a clutch problem, belt is new and clutch is free. Carbs were cleaned in the fall ran fine after, problem started midseason. Nothing was changed prior to the problem.

2x check the carbs again. I know you said you just cleaned them in the fall, but at least you can 100% rule it out. It's been an extremely bad year for the Viper Triples and the carbs.

No other issues going on, like the tach resetting when you use the brake or switch between high/low beam?
When my stator started going out, I had the above symptoms plus it had a bog in the mid-range if I had the warmers on. The low voltage was affecting the cdi.
