Looking for some help, my 98 SRX 600 has no top end, was out the other day and I maxed the speedo at 70mph and couldn't get anymore out of it. I bought the sled and had to replace the track right away, I put an 1-1/4" Ripsaw on it, I knew I would lose a few mph, but not that much. Any ideas for me to check? Thanks FireAsh

search the site. I would bet you have multiple pull through powervalves!! What is your track tension? Do you have tunnel protectors still in or did you notch your track? What are you clutches like (clean, binding)? Mine does about 115 on the speedo if I am running good.

I left my tunnel protectors/cooler protectors in and I didn't notch the track.

I took mine off....but some notch the track. Take a look to see if you have rub marks. What about your powervalves? What was the sled like before you put the track in? How tight do you run your track? I leave about 3/4 to 1 inch of sag when hanging on a stand at the middle of my skid.

First I would check your powervalves as mentioned. If they are working and your carbs etc is up to snuff then I would look into the clutching. I have a buddy that has this same sled with 14,000 miles on it so he has been through the ringer on this machine. He had alot of issues with his clutching ,tried all sorts of combos of Yamaha weights and springs and could never get it to pull good top end. I eventually talked him into Thunderproducts Heavy Hitters and he has never looked back. It has real good top end now for a 600. I do know he has had powervalve cable pull through in the past though.
Check compression on all cylinders. You can do 70 mph on 2 cylinders with that sled.
