hesitation before engagement

ever so slight hesitation (on the stand) from 2-3000 rpm. clutch comes in at 4200. I went to a heavier primary spring w/8bu's and I have some fine tuning of rivet weight to do yet; its a bit heavy now. I can idle up through it but it annoys the hell out of me. I already took the fuel screws from 1 1/8 to 1 1/2. It was not there last year with my other clutch setup and a lean pilot circuit has never been an issue with this sled (99 SRX all stock including jetting, carbs cleaned already). question is, can slightly overloaded ramps and a stiff spring cause a sluggish feel as clutch rpm's are increasing to engagement? or do I just need to go out another quarter on fuel screws?

Loading up the clutches can really aggrevate a lean low end condition. I had a problem in a piped ported sx but only when I used heelclicker weights & only on certain days.

when you put in various clutch weights in a given sled you change the throttle position at a given rpm. Therefore you may create a lean condition that you didn't see before. With aggresive weights at 4500 engagement you may have to go as much as 2.5 turns to cure it.

I never even considered how throttle position would change as you need more gas to spin more weight. guess I'll keep going out on the screws and as I reduce rivet weight maybe I can work through it. Thanks for the quick info guys. Dave
