Hey guys, was talking to my buddy on the weekend and hes having some trouble finding somewhere to press new bearings on his crank. Hes got a 670 Bomby motor (surprise surprise its broke...Hahahaha) He took it to the local dealer Bomby dealer and they told him they dont do it they send it out. Just wondering is it very hard to press new bearings on? Do you need a special jig or something? I've got access to a press at work but I dont want to get in over my head lol.

If not does anyone know of a local place somewhat close to Ottawa that would be able to put the new bearings on for him?

Thanks for the help!

are you talking about pressing on new main end bearings? if so, you need to have the throw, closest to where the bearing is going to get pressed on, be supported there, and then material you are using to support it, must be the same thickness as the gap in between that particular pair of throws, to keep the two throws from cocking in. follow me? its a little more involved that what the average joe might think, but its not the end of the world.

CV Tech in Quebec does a good job. They do alot of stuff for guys all over the place. I used them for a bottom end one time, they were fast, and very helpful on the phone.

PM ME CAN HELP U WITH THAT LOCAlLLY HERE, AND THERE IS ALSO A PLACE IN RICHMOND HILL , THEY DID ALL OF YAMAHA CANADA RECALL CRANCKS BACK IN THE DAY , I GOT A ULTRA CRANK WELDED THERE , THEY WERE EXPENSIVE BUT DID A GOOD JOB .. LITNER CRANKS I BELEIVE

Hes got the engine stripped down, its just a matter of removing the old bearings from the crank and installing new ones, I guess the one bearing is destroyed (hence the teardown) I havnt seen it at all, I just told him Id ask if anyone knew a place that did it, or if it was a huge job to do on your own with proper tools

Thats what Georges told him, that they send them out, and apparently if he got them to send it out they charge him $200 on top of the cost the other company charges lol
