So my 03 viper cuts on and off as i am riding down the trail its bone stock and has good mantanice it happens so fast its not really noticeable it is like I am turning the kill switch on and off very fast got to be something eletric any ideas

it is really simple..You have wire rub thru somewhere and it is playing games with you.Wires are grounding out the stator intermitently..start searching...that's what I have been doing and found wires burnt near exhaust and chewed by mice...

My Dad had that happen and it was the stator. But go with Blue's recommendation first... it's cheaper to fix rub throughs than replace a stator.
does the tors kill all power or just limit it
Limits the rpm to 3500
guess that not my issue it loses all power motor dash lights
As Bluemonster1 stated before "Wire rub thru "somewhere.
Theres wires every where... any ideas where common problems are it has to be in the area of the kill switch or cdi box right?

wires near the CDI box are prone to rub through and the harness that goes under the engine to the front/hood of the sled
it is weird it not only kills the lights and tach but it kills the entire sled like it got to be around the kill switch the sleds still in the trailer maybe i can get her out and check her over

Buddy of mines 03 Viper ER is doing the same exact thing right now. Last year it just quit running with no warning signs, then let it sit for a while and it may or may not start. When it did start it would go for a while then quit again, so he put a new stator in. Ran fine on the next trip, and thought it was good to go until yesterday... just quit while warming it up(idling). One time while he was cranking it over with the key, I was snapping the kill switch on and off and it fired up. He also looked for a rub through under the engine with no luck today, so I think he's gonna try a new kill switch.
Just now trying to figure out if the whole throttle block has to be replaced, or if kill switch parts are available seperately.
We were real lucky this time that it quit right in the camp driveway! She fired up long enough to get it loaded on the trailer...

Edit: I just re-read your post, and his doesn't come on and off, it just dies completely. Sounds like it could be a similar problem though.
as mentioned, the wiring harness is just a matter of time on all the 98-01 srx and vipers,(the 02 srx has a little bracket to help) so its not wasted effort to pull it repair as needed and place it in auto convolte tubing. Even if it isnt the problem, it removes the possibility in the future of wierd electracl issues. They all will rub thru sonner or later,it was a left out step from yamaha. its a dirty job too.....
