01 sxr 700 no spark

have a buddies 01 sxr 700 ran fine all day shut it off when and got a bite 2 eat 20 minutes later took a bunch of pulls 2 start but started went 20 feet and died. has no spark. ohmed out stator pick up and its right at 190 ohms. unpugged key switch and kill switch still no spark. could it still be the stator ? cdi ? or wiring ? any help guys thanks

with any no spark situation, you always start at the source of the power and work out, so I would hook up a digital meter to the pick up coil wires coming from the stator, pull it over and it should show you varying voltage if its working. Then move to the wire going into the cdi and check again. Then move to the wire coming out of the cdi going to the coils,again checking for varying voltage when you pull it over.

so last night took the ecu 2 my buddies sled and tried it on his started right up, then borrowed his key switch and pulled it over had spark 4 a pull then 2nd pull went faint then 3rd nothing ??? any insights ???
