Hey guys! Im a new member and i want to say this website rocks! I Have a 2001 SXr 600 that i put a tracks usa 136" rail and tunnel extension, did all the work myself. I had 8t anti ratchet drivers pressed on cause im running a 1-1/4" ripsaw with 1-1/2" studs. I left the gearing stock for now. Didnt do any clutching either. Has the stock silencer, no motor work done. I put 200 miles on it so far with no issues. Hooks up like crazy!! i was riding a railbed here in Maine this past weekend and i was running wide open. The speedo said i was doing 95 but the gps said i was doing 80. I know the speedos run off quite a bit on the yamahas, but 80mph wide open?? Is this normal for a 600 triple with a longer track? or am i going to have to regear or run a different clutch setup? takeoff and midrange is great, and i would rather have that versus top end but i just want to see if anyone has any suggestions. Thanks!

Switching to 8t drivers dropped your final drive ratio, 90 is a bit slow for a sxr, but your clutching is off now with the drivers being swapped, so you are probably over revving so the motor isnt running to its potential.

With a 600 SXR I can only get to about 87 miles per hour radar.I am geared down 1 tooth upper and run a 1.25 track..that is with stock clutching. That was with 12,000 km's on motor. Now I have done re-build.but have not yet run it wot for a long haul to see what it can do..If you have a 136..1.25 and studs..you are lucky hitting 80 mph.
A few years earlier I did get it up to about 160 km/h on a packed surface and long pull.I am happy if I get 90 mph on it anyway..it's my ditch banger and drift buster sled..got the SRX for more speed.....lol

I was thinking about doing a clutch kit and a cold air kit, but i wanna run it this year the way it is and see what i need to do next year to improve. I want to try it out in all riding conditions. I haven't really had a chance to try it out in deep powder....haven't gotten much snow yet this year, but I love the power when i nail the throttle on a hard packed trail, i even get a little ski lift! Maybe ill just have to get a faster sled for those railbed rides!! lol!

going from 9T drivers to 8T drivers is approximately an 11% gear reduction. This means that your clutching will be off and you are overrevving. This is where your discrepency in speed comes from. Work on getting your R's back down and you should be able to gain a few more MPH.

So if the smaller drivers cause a gear reduction, should i put a larger toothed top gear in the chain case? Or should i run a different clutch setup to compensate for the lost top end? :2strokes: :letitsnow
