Hello all. I have a 2002 Yamaha SX Viper that the high beam dims when I'm riding fast. The battery is new and the hand warmers get very hot. My heated shield also works well all of the time. The low beam light has no issues with dimming ever. When the sled is idiling the low beam or high beams are very bright. Once I get on the throttle the high beam light tends to dim and will brighten once I'm off the throttle. Any thoughts?

I'd be willing to bet you have a rubbed through wire grounding the high beams out, corrosion on the magneto (flywheel) , corrosoin at the hood harness plug or a bad ground. These are the things I would check first. Harness is known for rub throughs.

I think I might have the same problem, my Technical English is not so good, so when you say magneto what is that and were is it and the harness ?

Thanks. I will check the wires and connections. If the magneto had corrosion would it cause a problem for other electrical components as well? Any place online to view/print a manual for this sled? If not, where do you buy one at a reasonable price?

sx viper dim lights no hand heat

I also have an 02 viper with similar electrical issues. Dim headlights little to no heat on grips or thumb warmer and before I go and replace the stator i am going to look for shorts in the harness. has anyone had same problems and or anyone know where the most common harness problem or rub through area is

Under the handlebar pad going down to the engine and underneath the engine on the pass side of the sled.

Thanks I'll start there. Do you know anything about the self diagnosing system like how it works. every now and then the warning light comes on but doesn't indicate what mite be the problem. Thinking maybe a short
