Ok, here is my dumb question: What is the little tank that is connected to the oil tank for? Thanks.

The one with a cap and a little piece of hose coming off it? It's for the coolant/antifreeze.

It's the small tank connected to the oil tank in this pic, what #1 is actually pointing to.

Maybe someone with a SRX will say for sure because I far from one of the guru's around here.
I did find this....Coolant & Oil tank

That would be the same as mine, difference is I don't have a breather and hose, I just have a little cap on it that doesn't stay on. I also noticed that there is no fluid in there at all, I'm guessing that's not a good thing.

It's a shared part between the SX and SRX. In the SX the smaller tank is for coolant. For the SRX they just capped it and put a cross over hole in it to allow for extra oil capacity as the SRX has a seperate collant tank over the brake. I like the fact i can carry almost 4L of oil and almost never have to add any during long trips.

So you're telling me that I can put oil in the small tank and use it as a reservoir tank?

I think you should ignore what I've posted FireAsh.
I always thought is was an overflow reservoir for the anti-freeze. Mine was connected from the coolant bottle to that reservoir.

i believe it's an overflow as well for the coolant, needs to go somewhere if you overheat.
