Had that gates belt on for one day! I had to take a razor to scrap the burnt rubber off the primary clutch. the dayco about 300 miles.

OEM all the way..had an aftermarket belt that only lasted like 60 miles and Kaboom.Don't know why they even sell them.I think they really are rated for a low HP sled that doesn't run high rpm's and speeds...junk anyways just like other things in this world we live in.
Well who makes the belts for yamaha?

I have run both 8DN and the HPX on my 2000 SRX.Had some clutching issues when I bought the sled causing it to chew belts in short order.Rather than experiment with $120 belts till it got sorted out I bought two HPX for $50 each till I solved the problem. The HPX is 2mm thinner(less depth so less contact area)than OEM and half of that is above the cording. Also the OEM has much deeper corrugating on the outer surface and I think that helps with cooling. The HPX is almost smooth on the outside. The 8DN is a heavier duty belt for sure but no warranty. Both my HPX belts were ruined but I was able to troubleshoot my clutch issue.Sent both back to Dayco and received two new ones.Cost $15 each plus shipping for warranty.I will be trying the replacement belts soon.I have a couple buddies using the HPX with no complaints but like I said the OE belts are much heavier and expensive.I'm curious to see how the HPX hold up with my clutches working correctly.
