I have a '99 SX 600 that has a little over 10,000 miles on it. I put a new Camoplast Predator 1.25" track on it late last winter and didn't really get to ride it much. This winter with all the snow we got I've been riding quite a bit. It sounds like the drivers are racheting under heavy acceleration and heavy breaking. I tightened the track several times because it only has about 500 miles on it and it is still stretching a little. Even with it "bango" tight it sounds like it is racheting more so under heavy acceleration than anything. Do the dirvers typically rachet under acceleration? Could it be that the taller lugs are hitting the top of the tunnel under acceleration? Could the drivers be worn out with that many miles on them?

The bigger lug and the way better than stock track is going to have more "bite" so to speak. Are you getting the ratchet effect under WOT from a dig aswell as from a say 30mph stab to wot? I really dont see the drivers wearing that bad. Have you checked your chain latley? Thats a few miles and may dont quote me but the chain and gears could be worn. It sounds like you just need to tighten the track a little at a time untill it stops ratcheting.

Also, your track will loosen a bit when you are on your sled. I would also tighten it up a little more each time until it stops ratcheting. With a new track, you may have to do this more than once as it stretches. I also replaced the track on my SX with a Predator 1", good track.

I agree with the others, check your chain tension. Buddy of mine was complaining of similar sounds on his F7, ended up being a really loose chain.

New chain, new gears, new belt and the track is bango tight. It still sounds like it is ratcheting. It will happen most often under hard acceleartion whether its from a dead stop to 3/4-WOT or moving slow (up to about 20-25mph) to WOT. I am getting wear marks on some of the lugs (1.25" lug track) like they are rubbing the tunner protectors which sort of makes me think it is more from track rub than ratcheting. How long should it take this track to stretch out and wear-in?

Your gonna have to get down on your hands and knee's and see exactly how much clearence you have and let us know.......... front heat exchanger, tunnel, and rear........If your less then a 1/4" on the front you will have problems......

Is your belt slipping (chattering). This happened on my bros. viper when he went to a 1.25 track. I wound the secondary from 50 to 70 and it fixed the chattering.

I know that an 1.5" intense will not clear the protectors on an SXr and a 1.375 cobra will not clear the protectors on a Viper. You may want to check there, when the track balloons out you may be rubbing, actually, you probably are rubbing.

Thanks to all that have relied. I will be dragging the sled in the garage to thaw it out this weekend (it will be -20 to -25 F here this weekend) to get good look at the clutches, belt, chain, gears, protectors, track etc.
I will post anything I find.

Ok those of you that thought it was the chain were correct.
I had to put about 4-1/2 turns into the chain tensioner to get it set correctly.
Thanks for all the suggestions.

Probably a couple hundred miles to wear it in. I have the same thing going on, it seems to be getting better now. I have about 100 miles on now.

Drivecogs do wear to the point that you can see it with that many miles if the sled has been picked good.I have gone thru 2 sets until i got noslips.
