Need some advice. Pulled apart my cabs the other day and noticed the last owner misplaced 3 of the nylon shims for the needles. I ordered them but the dealer screwed up and only got me 2. I have a trip up north planned for this weekend so I don't have time to wait on the dealer getting me another. I was able to find a metal washer in the same diameter and .1 mm thicker. Is it safe to use so I can go up north this weekend or do I call off the trip. My main concern is the metal washer may damage the needle. Unless someone has a spare they could overnight me :)

I thought you went thru the needles a week or so ago, when I was helping you fix your bog issue?? Didn't you notice the loss of shims then? You could get away w/the thicker steel shim. If I was you, I would put the thicker steel washer on the pto carb. Remember, you need to have the clip in the middle position, w/2 shims under the clip......meaning the shims will be closer to the pointy end of the needle, versus the clip.

Thanks mopar. Yea that is when I ordered the shims. Took me a week to get them. Dealer forgot one.

I just wanted to clarify, that you are going to have 2 carbs that have 2 plastic shims each under the clip, and 1 carb (mag) that will have 1 steel shim and 1 plastic shim......correct?

Yes, 2 Carb with 2 nylon shims and 1 Carb (pto) with 1 nylon and 1 ss shim. The ss shim is slightly thicker so the pto will run slightly richer. Which it probably should anyway. Shims installed under the clip which is position 3.
