ok this is the last thing that could be the problem. my 97 mm 600 will run like a dream for a while, now when im out on the trail wide open for a while it will loose power. if i baby it for a bit it will run fine. I know it is not the carbs, they are clean and the floats are not sticking! the sled has sat for 5 years b4 i got it. my last guess is the fuel pump, my thoughts were that it cant keep up with the high demand for fuel at WOT and once you back off for a bit it will fill the bowls back up.

does it seems like it runs out of gas? Does it hesitate? Does it just shut off?
What are your mains set at? Not sure but maybe your fuel filter is clogged?

my mains are 156.3, stock is 160. runs to rich with 160. i have an inline b4 the pump, seems to be full of fuel. it doesnt shut off, it will idle fine. needles are in stock. the thing also uses a lot of fuel too.

ok i just whent out and i put a clear line on the pulse line and there the fuel moving thew, so im pretty sure the pump is bad. hope to have a kit at work, kinda pays off to work at a yamaha dealer lol. hope to get it running strong by next weekend for the okoboji winter games.

ha new fuel pump leaks but it runs good lol. just dont like the fuel sitting in my belly. maybe i got a hole in a line.

Sounds like the Throttle Override System. If the electrical switches on the carbs and throttle don't make a good contact the ignition system won't let it go over 3000 RPM. (because it "thinks" the carbs are stuck open and wants to protect you from unintended acceleration)
