I know it's a little early but the dealer down the street said yamaha will be joining the snowcross circuit in 06 and possibly a new 2 stroke or two? Anbody hear any tidbits about this.

I personally say due to $ and emissions Yamaha will not ever release another 2 stroke motor. The reason they pulled out of snocross was $ related.

it may be possible to see a 4 stroke in snow cross but the rules would need to be changed and a fair 2stroke to 4stroke hp and cc conversions would need to be made.

It would appear that the dealers know just about as much as we do about Yamaha's plans for the future.

well alot of us work at dealers or have and still have the connections

yamaha doesn't often say stuff to the dealers that they don't want the public to know

Yamaha has said many times that they are commited to the development and marketing of lightweight, high-performance 4-strokes. They have no plans for coming out with any 2-strokes.
I dont foresee Yamaha returning to sno-x. Unless the WSA does something similar to what the AMA has done in allowing 4-strokes a cc advantage, I dont think you will see any kind of a factory sno-x team.
Yamaha is very active in both grass drags and enduro racing. I think that enduro best suits the strengths of the 4-strokes (durability and fuel economy) and I think thats where Yamaha will focus their resources. I also think that enduro racing is the best environment for Yamaha to test their products. Nothing will test a sled like a 500 mile enduro race and I think thats kind of enviroment that most resembles the types of conditions that most people will put their sleds through.
I dont know about anyone else, but the trails that I ride on dont have very many big tabletop jumps or 50 ft. doubles to clear.
Yamaha is in the business of building high-performance trail sleds, not race sleds.

I'd bet anything that Yamaha is working on a clean 2-stroke. Especially seeing the direction the industry is going (and sales). Of coarse they won't say anything to the public. In 96' Yamaha was still bragging about how much better the T.S.S. front suspension was, then look what happened in 97'.

The T.S.S. could have been the better suspension and was in many ways ie. (Darting, Bumpsteer, Snow packing, fewer parts and therefore weight....)Yamaha was slow in most ways when it came to updateing the T.S.S.(as usual) to keep up with the jones in terms of Ski stance, travel and adjustability and only, on the last Vmax4's and Exciter Sx did they add preload adjustments but, where still short on 2 factors compared to the other sleds. Add the same Stance and Travel to the T.S.S. with a new Aluminum bulkhead along with all the other light weight parts of the 97's and Yes, I believe the T.S.S. would have been better ! I talked to a dealer who swears he was to a Yamaha R&D Facility where they felt the newly designed prototypeT.S.S. out performed the prototype Trailing arm but, Media coverage and therefore public opinion towards Change made them opt. for the T.A.'s in 97 ! Take it for whats it's worth ?

I personally dont agree with Yamaha abandoning the 2-stroke market. However, I think that Yamaha would rathar spend their time and money on developing better 4-strokes than to develop clean 2-strokes now and then still have to develop lightweight 4-strokes 10 years from now.
By the time that the other OEMs start to get serious about 4-strokes, Yamaha will have a HUGE advantage.
At the same time, you cannot deny that not everyone is interested in a 4-stroke. A lot of people still want a 140 hp, 470 pound ditchbanger. I dont see a 4-stroke being able to fit this category.
Yamaha has the technology to make clean-burning 2-strokes but I just dont see it happening. I think it would be great if they did come out with something similar to a REV with a directed-injection 2-strokes. I do think that you will see a REV-based Yamaha in the near future, but I think it will use a variation of the Genesis 120 engine.

Holy goat milk! That looks fookin' awesome, win or lose. Care to translate what that says>? PRETTY PLEASE???

It just says who the drivers will be and some other basic info. Nothing terribly interesting exept perhaps this:

"Ljudet var udda, konstigt och mycket mäktigt!". Would be something like "The sound was unusual, weird and very powerful". If that makes any sense.

There's a whole article about the modifications to the engine (147 hp) in the new nr of Snowrider. That's a Swedish mag though and i don't have it, yet. But i'll try to add more info when i get it.

This will stand the hair on the back of your neck. :WayCool:
