will a 38T SRX bottom gear fit a SXR chain with 22T top? Do I have enough throw on the tensioner? I went to 8T drivers and need a little taller gearing. Are the chains the same? I recall something about diff gears and chain although they are both 70L? Yes No?
no, wont interchange unless you use the entire set, top, bottom and chain.
the 98-99 srx uses 15 wide chain
the 2000-02 srx uses 13 wide HYVO chain.
the sxr, vmax, use a std 13 wide chain.
you can tell the differance between the hyvo and non hyvo by looking at the teeth, they are well rounded off on peaks and valleys with hyvo, the std chain has pointed tips.

Thanks MrViper I knew there was something diff. How do I go about making this work then? I have stock SXr gearing 22/39. Is my only option to find a set of gears and a chain? Can I find a 23T top gear or a 38T bottom that will work with my 13 wide std chain? I dont see too many options after looking at the tech pages. what can I do?
sure, you can buy any top and bottom sprocket in std 13 wide, they are available about everywhere, its just you cant use a 98-99 srx set unless you use all the stuff together, same with the newer 2000-02 srx/viper that use the hyvo stuff.
any of the stuff will fit your sled, it just has to all be either 13 wide, hyvo, or 15 wide as a set if your going to use it from a donor sled.
