Hello little new here i have a 98 vmax sx 600twin with mbrp can, I am wondering if i can get some more hp from my engine any tricks ?parts ? info would be great, I no i could just upgrade to bigger motor but I, bought the slead brand new and going to stay around, the family but would really like to do asmuch as posible to this engine
Clutching, reed valve modification, head gasket modification, get rid of the mbrp can.

Ditch the can....Clutch it and reeds....

Well your not going to get any jaw dropping HP but you can crisp'en it up some.
good suggestions above but do remember with added compression(HG gasket mod)will come added octane needed and todays gas is bad getting worse so keep that under advisement.
best bang for the buck is clutching it to run 7800 on top,reed valve mod,jetting dialed in and ditch the can like the guys said above it does nothing for HP and in some cases you loose HP.
as i said these were not power houses BUT tuned and maintained RIGHT they like all Yamaha sleds a very reliable.
back when i had my 600 '98 XTC(miss it)i had her tuned in pretty good and could keep up with my buds and there red head 700's no problem.

Reeds(OEM)there's plenty of on line or in house TY vendors, clutch parts can be had here in the wanted or for sale section for cheap just stock components are needed to achieve desired rpm's,etc,search for 600 twin clutching.
